Solo Travel to Hawaii
Solo Travel to Hawaii
If you’re single and looking to mingle - Hawaii is a melting pot of Hawaiians (of course), Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Filipinos, on and on...... open your mind and open your heart to the possibilities. Although, mind your manners and be aware of your surroundings at all times. I would suggest staying in Waikiki so that you are immersed in the beach life; which is easily accessible. There are a sea of restaurants and bars, so it’s less likely for you to be bored and lonely. I hope you didn’t vacation to Hawaii to stay in the room or be a complete, sedentary beach bum. Get up and get out! Meet people, be spontaneous (yet safe), adventurous, and courteous! There are booze cruises, I mean sailing opportunities, that depart right off of Waikiki beach and guaranteed you’ll find others like you. Check out the Experience Oahu page for insights on what to do on this beautiful island.
On the North Shore of Oahu and in Waikiki, you will find hostels to accommodate you at a much cheaper rate than hotels. Please note, people here still allow couchsurfing also. (be safe - do your research).
If you plan on leaving either area, you'll want a car. The Bus will indeed waste precious time and you won't have the freedom to stop when you please. As for the rail, maybe it will be complete in 2022. Maybe.
