Hi.

Welcome to my travel blog.

I may tell you a travel story, share a list of things to do, an itinerary, or something totally irrelevant to travel, but beneficial for life. Either way, have fun looking around. This is my hobby and travel is my passion, so I can get away with contradicting the marketing strategies of the week.

I hope you find the information you need for your upcoming adventures. Maybe you’ll discover a few other things that’ll keep you coming back. (I would like someone to read my posts.)

Always feel free to comment and let me know if you have questions or suggestions. Please follow the GnG guidelines for commenting, which are: Be nice, refrain from cursing, and giggle a little - it’s good for the soul.

Grazie.

Rafting in Veneto

Rafting in Veneto

Want a summer activity for your family, yourself, you and your co-workers or friends?

Last July, while the kids were visiting, we went rafting with Ivan Team in Solagna. Solagna is a short one hour drive north of Vicenza. It was perfect Saturday fun for our family and here’s why: 1) It was the first time rafting for all of us. 2) We were able to choose the level of difficulty to suit our perceived abilities. 3) This activity promotes teamwork (vs. competition). 4) Ivan’s team made it easy to get in and enjoy. 5) The weather was beautiful and we had stunning views for the 2 hour ride.

Note: Our kids were 11 and 15 at the time. The website states children as young as 3 years old can join the fun.

We got to jump in the water and it was quite refreshing. It was so cold, I lost my breath.

What a blast it was! Our kids thoroughly enjoyed this activity. Our daughter was in awe of the mountains surrounding us. It was her most memorable experience while visiting Italy for the first time. Our son wore himself out - in the best way. He loved it when the guide told him to jump out of the raft and float for a bit. It’s fun and it’s work.

The drops were spot on. It was exciting, but not scary. Look at our faces in the pictures below. I mean really - the photo says it all. IT had photographers stationed along the bank to take our photos. I’m so thankful because if not, we would’ve missed out on these great captures. A few days later they emailed the photos to us. While not good quality, the photos were free and it’s better than no photos.

Tip: Wear “closed” toed shoes or you will have to borrow some from the loaner closet.

Ivan’s Team is very well organized, professional, fun, and safe. They provide all the necessary equipment such as: helmet, wetsuit, life jacket, and shoes if you need them. I had complete trust in the guides should something had gone wrong. Simone and Guliana of @ivan_team_rafting took care of us and taught us things about rafting and the area.

You can choose from several levels of difficulty to include an adventurous option that involves canyoning. IT also offers canoeing and hydrospeed trips.

Current rates for family rafting is: € 22.00 from 3 to 6 years; € 27.00 from 7 to 12 years; € 35.00 adults
